Is Instagram Using Your Photos for AI? How to Opt-Out
Protecting your digital content from Meta AI training
Artificial Intelligence is rapidly changing how social media works. Recently, users discovered that Meta’s new AI tools, including the "Muse Image" feature, may use publicly shared Instagram photos for AI training and generation[cite: 1].
Critical Note: This feature is default ON for public accounts. You must manually disable it if you do not want your content used in Meta's AI experiments[cite: 1].
How to Disable AI Photo Reuse
- Open the Instagram App.
- Tap your Profile Picture.

- Select Settings and activity[cite: 1].
- Scroll down and tap on Sharing and reuse[cite: 1].
- Disable the option: "Allow people to reuse your content on Instagram and with AI features at Meta"[cite: 1].
